DiscMGR - Online Retrieval

DISC's Online Retrieval System has a host of features that can encompass your organization's needs. Features range from automated virus scanning to document routing and revision history. The following paragraphs will cover several of the more prominent aspects of our solution.

One of the most important things, in regards to an ECM System, is the ability to retrieve the document you need in a timely manor. Our solution can facilitate several different types of searches, including boolean searches, wildcard searches, and keyword searches. Boolean searches utilizes three keywords; and, or, and not. When searching for a document that contains both words AND is used (e.g. "computer AND software" would return results that have both "computer" and "software"). If the search should should not return results if they contain a certain term NOT is used (e.g. "this NOT that" would return results that contained "this", but would not return them if "that" was within them). The final boolean supported is OR, this is the default when searching and thus does not have to be used. Another search aspect of our solution is that it has a built-in OCR engine and can capture text from documents when the processors are not busy processing other requests. OCR can be performed on almost all types of images and PDFs. If a PDF has been OCRed before being put into our system the text from within the PDF file will be used. However if the PDF is an encapsulated PDF (a PDF of just images) an image will be created for the pages of the PDF and then the images will be OCRed to allow for searching of the text within the PDF.

Working with an older version of a document can lead to a lot of lost labor. With our system's versioning, check-out, and document routing features your employees can work at peak effeciency. The document routing allows for unattended transfer between users for viewing, editing, or approval. The integrated email system can send notifications at any point within a route. Versioning allows users to revert back to a previous version of a document. With check-in and check-out functionality users will not have to worry about working on a document at the same time as another, thus hindering any changes made.
